Hey yaw'l,
I'm in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. (Mid-west for you geographically challenged folk. :-) I'm in the midst of cooking, selling and tasting corn on the cob! My dad's corn roasting business Robbys Roasted Corn at www.Summerfest.com is well underway and doing quite greatly! You wouldn't believe how big this thing is, there are lines that stretch across the grounds and the folk in Milwaukee have grown up to Robby's roasted Corn. My mom just bought a cool condo here, and she even decorated it, so we just transitioned into nice luxury during the Summerfest! (Gotta love it) Although there is nothing but elderly white folks here and seeing us move in was like "Look who's coming to dinner!" ;-) It's sorta cool though, cuz by day, I'm wreaking of burnt corn husk and ashes and yet, on July 4th I'll be on a main stage with Arrested Development at this same festival acting like the super star I am! :-) In fact, I just got a email today from some high school fans at Waustosa East highschool, saying they are all coming to the show with signs & AD banners etc.! This is gonna be sweet! Anyway, my dad turned 71 yrs old! That makes me 18 now! :-) And my main man, Monyea just lost his Dad 2 days ago! May he rest in peace, and my prayers are with Monyea & the fam!! We're all getting at that age where our parents are passing away and WE are suddenly parents of pre-teens and such. Life is poetry! Speaking of poetry, I wrote a great song called," An Impact" I'm TRYING to get the sample cleared so it can make the new Arrested Development album release Oct. 16th 2007! (Red Eye records U.S.) The song is about how ALL of us are making an impact whether we are saturated on the Tube, getting heavy rotation on radio or not. It's a pretty "coming of age" type song! But very appropriate for the boom-bap generation. I'm trying to get 2 other NEW songs on the album as well, one with Braille and Theory Hazit, called "Our Moment" and another called "Please don't let go" (Which is supposed to have a guest appearance from TY! (UK) But I have mis-laced his amazing verse! (Proof of my age and busy-ness). I am so excited to have Marie from Zap Mama in the studio today recording some vocals for some of my new unreleased songs! I love her stuff, if you haven't heard Zap Mama, peep out the newest album, "Supermoon" coming soon! The NewYork/east coast dates are coming quickly! I have gotten such great news from my folks on up north! The New York City Church sent me an e-mail, saying they are going to be at the shows in Full - Effect! Just one of the many perks of being a Christian. :-) Thanks yaw'l!!! And my peeps from Philly to Brooklyn and coming out to jam with us! If you haven't gotten your tickets do it soon! Check out a new podcast of an interview I just did with Gerogia Music Magazine! Very cool! InsideGeorgiaMusic.com. And you can spread the word about another interview I just did with my Mothers own newspaper. (www.communityjournal.net) Mom's has the largest black owned newspaper in Wisconsin. and believe it or not Milwaukee is mostly black people! I did another revealing interview with "RISEN" magazine coming out in October, keep an eye out. VH-1 has just summonsed me to do an interview for their 100 greatest songs of the 90's special, I heard "Tennessee" is one of their choices! (Gotta love it - Hooorray!!) I went to see Chris Brown, Ciara, & Ludacris last night! (My daughter Zoe is a big Christ Brown fan) My daughters 10 years old, and when Chris says, "All the single women make some noise", Zoe screams out! I'm trippin' inside!!!!:-) Storing it all in my lil ole heart! Fatherhood is poetry baby! (LOL) Special shout to: Gym Class Heroes, TY, DJ Hasabe, NowOn, Braille, Steph Pockets, Lounge Lizards, for yaw'ls inclusion on AD's up & coming "Since The Last Time MIX TAPE! It will be FREE with the upcoming AD release!! It's been 12 years since we releaed ANYTHING in the U.S. So Please show love! I mean real love like by buying a copy of the record! Even if I have to pay you back later. :-) Ok... Well I'm sitting at a nice little coffee shop named Kletzsh Perk, using their free internet and enjoying the weather. I pray you all are enjoying your summer as much as I am. Much love yaw'l! Peace & Strength, SPEECH (Back) |
